ROBERT “ROB” HELMKAMP IAAI-CFI, NAFI-CFEI

Principal Consultant Robert Helmkamp has a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Fire Science, from the University of Central Missouri. He began his career in law enforcement, serving as a Patrol/Special Operations officer with the Topeka Police Department in Topeka, Kansas.

Robert began working in the field of fire and explosion investigations in 1999 where he was employed by another St. Louis based origin and cause investigation company until moving to Pyr-Tech in 2016.

Rob is currently the President/Principal Consultant of Pyr-Tech, Inc. and works out of the main office in Collinsville, IL. He is a member of the IAAI, a Director of the Illinois Chapter of the IAAI, and a member of NAFI. He holds both the Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) designation through the International Association of Arson Investigators, as well as the Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) designation through the National Association of Fire Investigators. During his 21-year career, Rob has presented testimony on fire/explosion origin and cause on dozens of occasions in both state and federal court.
